Ghosts: Myth Or Reality?

We have all heard about ghost stories and how things go bump in the night. We have heard how things growl, speak and move things. We have all pretty much seen the movie 'Paranormal Activity'. But are ghosts real? That's the true question. I am going to look at this from a skeptics point of view.

Look up ghost pictures online. You will find numerous sights with pictures all proclaiming to be pictures of ghosts, orbs, demonic children, dead parents, and ghostly apparitions. But are they true? Most I found were just flashes in windows, dust or just plain fake. I think our brain has become desensitized by the gory movies and horror flicks that our minds play tricks on us.

Who hasn't stayed up an extra hour after watching 'The Exorcist' because they were afraid to go to sleep?

.

Could Ghosts Just Be Hallucinations?

According to The anatomy of conscious vision: an fMRI study of visual hallucinations. Ffytche DH, Howard RJ, Brammer MJ, David A, Woodruff P, Williams S.

'Hallucinations reflects the functional specializations of the region and that patients who hallucinate have increased ventral extrastriate activity, which persists between hallucinations.'

In other words when electromagnetic activity was targeted towards specific regions of the brain, it created visual hallucinations. Read for yourself here.

Also, it has been proven that magnetic fields make us see and hear things that we perceive as strange, and frankly, just look around, everything creates some sort of electromagnetic field these days. Does it not?

Auditory Hallucinations

Once again, Auditory Hallucinations are in 50%-70% of schizophrenic patients. So, maybe that growl you heard was actually your refrigerator, or that voice you heard was actually in your head.

Think about it...

Judge For Yourself

I am writing with this with no opinion of my own because this is such a contraversial subject for many people. Some people will rant that ghosts and demons are real, others will laugh, while others will wonder if what I say is true. Judge for yourself.

I am open for debate and comments on the subject.

Parting Thought...

I often hear christians rant about how ghosts are not real. If that is the case how is it they believe in the Holy Ghost?

Just curious.

Greetings! I couldn't resist leaving you a comment after reading your hub! First of all, I am a Christian with an understanding that we are "spirit-beings" living in a body form that exists in a "natural" realm. Your reference to the Holy Ghost was a good one! We are unique in the sense that we have access to a spiritual realm while journeying in the natural. So with that said, knowing this, we understand that we deal with the natural vs. spiritual realm. The knowledge that we acquire on our natural journey dictates our knowledge of the spiritual realm and what resides in it (manifestations, demonology, angels, witchcraft, etc.)

I believe in many things, I just always try to put logic to my beliefs and understand from a scientific point of view. However scientists have always collided with the religious. I do believe in God, demons, malevolent spirits, and ghosts. Not everyone can run around the world saying they believe in ghosts without some doctor somewhere saying they are schizophrenic. That is why I threw in the "Holy Ghost' remark. It makes people pause when you say that. Thanks for the comment! And God bless! I really am religious, I am just throwing out my thoughts and doubts. I love hearing what other people believe and feel.

Doubting whether you were a Believer or not, never crossed my mind! I understand your point of view and it opens the door for good discussion. I'll even throw this out there! Prayer is a tool that is readily used but the power of prayer cannot be fully understood until we understand the Spirit! It is life-changing, not constricted by time or distance, and is fast as a whisper! Science will always be confounded by His works! Heck, for that matter me too! LOL! It makes the journey with Him all the sweeter! My best to you on your exploration!
